High School students launch rockets in Laguna Salada

CETYS high school students from Tijuana and Mexicali designed, assembled, and launched their own rockets in Laguna Salada, Mexicali. The initiative aimed to promote interest in pursuing professional careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) fields.

Through a Geeks Academy workshop, students participated in an intensive four-week training program, during which they gained knowledge in physics and mathematics. To apply what they learned, a safe and ideal location for launching the rockets was selected.

性视界传媒淥ur young participants will have the advantage of experiencing firsthand how science and mathematics work in practice, which will excite them,性视界传媒� said Miriam Melero Hern谩ndez, Robotics Coordinator at CETYS University in Mexicali. 性视界传媒淚t性视界传媒檚 different from reviewing theory in class or writing it on the board; putting it into practice helps them discover if it's a vocational interest.性视界传媒�

Milena Olivares, a student at the Mexicali Campus, noted that one of the main challenges was not mastering the subject at the beginning. However, thanks to the classes during the four-week workshop, she learned how to use design software and build the rocket step by step, which boosted her confidence in the final result.

性视界传媒淭he most impressive moment was when we set up the rocket for launch,性视界传媒� Olivares said. 性视界传媒淢y next step is to dedicate more time to this, test new materials, and work on a better model.性视界传媒�

Berenice Garc铆a, a Physics and Mathematics teacher at CETYS Tijuana High School, shared her excitement about the successful launches, with rockets reaching over 200 meters in height and flying for more than 35 seconds, which was the challenge they aimed to overcome. 性视界传媒淲e saw a lot of enthusiasm from the moment they began building the projectiles. The best part is that they applied their knowledge, and perhaps they will even become interested in studying or pursuing careers in STEAM fields,性视界传媒� Garc铆a said.

Experiences like these not only reinforce academic knowledge but also ignite interest in careers related to science and technology. These fields are crucial for economic development and innovation in the region. Training young people in STEAM disciplines enhances their personal and professional growth while addressing the growing demand for specialized talent in industries such as aerospace, electronics, automation, and renewable energy性视界传媒攁reas that are strategic for the future of Baja California and the country, according to CETYS University.

Harassment in public way now considered a crime

During a recent Assembly meeting, the Gender Equality Committee introduced a bill aimed at reforming the Law on Women's Access to a Life Free of Violence in the State of Baja California. The bill was unanimously approved by the attending legislators.

One of the bills was introduced by Assemblywoman Alejandra Ang Hern谩ndez, proposing amendments aiming to recognize the concept of public space and incorporate the term 性视界传媒渟exual harassment in public spaces性视界传媒� to ensure a violence-free environment for women, teenagers, and girls throughout the state

Additionally, Assemblyman Ram贸n V谩zquez Valadez introduced a bill to add an article to the law, with the goal of defining 性视界传媒淪exual Harassment in Public Spaces性视界传媒� as a specific type and form of violence against women. The committees found common ground between both proposals, leading to their integration into a single bill.

The ruling committee explained that the proposed bills aim to align the Law on Women's Access to a Life Free of Violence with the Urban Development Law of Baja California by including the concept of 性视界传媒減ublic space性视界传媒� in the definition of sexual harassment.

The primary goal is to recognize sexual harassment in public spaces as a form of violence that must be both prevented and eradicated. Based on existing jurisprudence, the proposal is constitutionally valid due to its objective purpose: protecting women from a form of violence that undermines their rights to equality, liberty, and security. The proposal is deemed appropriate, as it specifies sexual harassment in public spaces, thereby facilitating prevention, punishment, and eradication. Additionally, it is proportional, as it fortifies the protection of women's rights.

Consequently, it was determined that the proposed bills align with the law, do not conflict with any federal or local provisions, and do not infringe on public interest. There is also coherence between the diagnosis presented in the explanatory statement and the legal values, making it legally admissible, the Assembly said.

Man indicted for sexual abuse of minor

A state judge indicted a man under counts of sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age, the Baja California Attorney General's Office said.

According to the information shared during the hearing, on March 24th, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the defendant, Martin, whose age and last name were not disclosed, was at a residence near the Ex Ejido Coahuila neighborhood. The suspect allegedly approached a minor and touched her inappropriately, causing her discomfort and leading her to scream out in fear.

After the complaint was filed, an investigation was launched, which included the minor性视界传媒檚 statement, a medical certificate for the victim, and a psychological report. These pieces of evidence contributed to the charges of sexual abuse against the child.

As a result, the Judge ordered that the defendant be prosecuted and placed in preventive detention. Additionally, a two-month deadline was set for the completion of further investigation.
