EL CENTRO 性视界传媒 Imperial Valley Press Editor Arturo Bojorquez was honored as 性视界传媒淛ournalist of the Year性视界传媒 on Friday, May 9, 2025, during a ceremony hosted by the Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The recognition highlights Bojorquez's impactful work as a bilingual journalist and editor, including his role translating and editing Adelante Valle, which broadens access to news for Spanish-speaking residents across the region.

Bojorquez gave a special shout-out to his wife Alicia Talamantes, for supporting him and his career.

He said although the Valley is different and unique in its own way, the stories are universal.

The people, he said, are what drive him to go above and beyond and to tell their stories.

Local businesses get the spotlight
The annual awards ceremony celebrates individuals and organizations making meaningful contributions to business development, government contracting, disaster recovery, and local economic growth.
Bojorquez thanked Viridiana Rosales-Trujillo and SBA, IV Press' General Manager Alexis Singh, and the team at IV Press for the recognition as well as the other awardees from Imperial Valley.
Brittany D. Saiza, founder of Soy Candle & Company, was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Her business, known for its handcrafted, eco-friendly products, has become a symbol of creative entrepreneurship in the Imperial Valley.
Also receiving top honors was the team at Imperial Pipe and Steel Supply, awarded Rural Small Business of the Year. Led by CEO Ramon L. Ozuna, General Manager Victor Celaya, and CFO Liliana Higgins, the company was recognized for its strong leadership, community engagement, and commitment to excellence.
All local honorees were nominated by Viridiana Rosales-Trujillo, Center Manager of the Imperial Valley SBDC, whose work continues to support small businesses in the region.
The event also spotlighted standout entrepreneurs and businesses from the San Diego area, reflecting the diverse and thriving small business community across Southern California.
Additional awards included recognitions for the Small Business Investment Company of the Year and Surety Bond Agent of the Year, underscoring the broad impact of professionals who contribute to the economic vitality of their communities.
