On March 9th, the Synagogue is having a yard sale to raise money for theÌýcongregation. Donations are welcomeÌýand should be dropped off on Sunday,ÌýFebruary 23.

County announces Lithium Valley workshops

The County of Imperial will be hosting their third community workshop on the Lithium Valley Specific Plan.

There will be a workshop on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 with English as the primary language, and a workshop on Thursday, February 27, 2025 with Spanish as the primary language. Both workshops will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the County Administration Center Board Chambers at 940 W. Main Street, El Centro, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý 92243.

Imperial County will showcase the Draft Lithium Valley Specific Plan, how to provide feedback on the document, and what to expect moving forward. The workshop will offer fun and interactive ways to learn about the Specific Plan. Spanish interpretation services will be offered. There will be free snacks and prizes.

Man with out-of-county warrant caught

El Centro police officers arrested a man who had an outstanding warrant from another county.

According to the activity logs of the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, Adrian Emanuel Regalado, 23, was taken into custody at the intersection of North 12th Street and Adams Avenue.

He was booked into the county jail at 4:44 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, and is being held without bail.

Haystack fire reported

A haystack fire was reported on Friday evening, northeast of the city.

According to activity logs from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, the incident was reported at 9:44 p.m. on February 14, at the intersection of McConnell Road and Harris Road.

The logs indicate that the owner of the haystack was notified about the fire.

The fire was subsequently handed over to firefighters for management.

Imperial agents arrest man in El Centro

A man was arrested for making threats, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct in El Centro.

Edgar Fernando Garcia, 26, was taken into custody by Imperial police agents for threatening to commit a crime with the intent to terrorize. He was booked into county jail at 1:07 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, and his bail was set at $20,000.

Imperial police agents booked a man early Sunday into county jail for threatening to commit a crime with intent to terrorize, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct caused by alcohol.

Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs read Edgar Fernando Garcia, 26, was booked into the county jail at 1:07 a.m. on February 16, with a $20,000 bail.

Man booked for corporal injuries, assault

Brawley police officers arrested a man for inflicting corporal injuries on a spouse or cohabitant and for assault with a deadly weapon, not including a firearm.

According to activity logs from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, Felix G. Meza, 38, was arrested by Brawley police officers at 7:14 a.m. on February 14. He was booked with a bail set at $50,000.

Man booked for kidnapping child during carjacking

A man was arrested by Calexico police officers for kidnapping a child while committing a carjacking.

According to activity logs from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, Yoahjan Jonathan Flores Lara, 36, was booked into the county jail at 7:50 p.m. on Friday, February 14, with a bail set at $1 million.

Vehicle reported stolen

A white four-door 2016 Jeep Wrangler was reported stolen early Sunday.

Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs show the case was reported to other law enforcement agencies by the Calexico Police Department at 12:34 a.m. on February 17.

The vehicle was reported stolen from East Fourth Street.

Man arrested for drug-related offenses

Calexico police agents arrested a man for several drug-related offenses, Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs show.

According to the logs, Twan Doroteo Castro, 20, was arrested for possession or purchase of a controlled substance for sale, transportation or sale of a controlled substance, and evading an officer with wanton.

The suspect was booked into county jail at 1:47 p.m. on February 16 with a $10,000 bail.

Traffic collision leaves one dead

A traffic collision that occurred on Saturday resulted in one fatality.

According to the activity logs of the Imperial County SheriffÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s Office, the incident was reported at 3:09 p.m. near Gecko Pad 4 Road. California Highway Patrol agents were dispatched to the scene.

The logs indicate that a deceased individual was found at the location, prompting the sheriff's office to request additional units for crowd control.

Two people at the scene, a 12-year-old juvenile and a 62-year-old man, reported experiencing pain.

The Bureau of Land Management requested an airship to transport the injured individuals.

The case has been referred to the Coroner's Office for further investigation.

Woman booked for battery

Imperial County sheriff's deputies arrested a woman for battery against a spouse or cohabitant, public nuisance, and possession of a controlled substance without a medical prescription.

According to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs, Lindsey Leanna Bloom, 38, was booked into the county jail at 8:51 p.m. on February 15, with a bail set at $5,000.

Injured woman found

A 24-year-old woman was found unconscious and breathing on Sunday afternoon, Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs read.

The incident was reported at 5:24 p.m. on February 16 at 5775 Highway 78.

The injured man was found bleeding from her mouth and nose.

BLM staff members requested an airship to transport the injured woman to a hospital.

The logs read a deputy obtained information from the parties involved in the case.

No other information was available.

IMPERIAL VALLEY

Traffic collision reported

Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs read that a traffic collision with major injuries was reported on Sunday

According to the logs, the incident was reported at 5:36 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, at Highway 86 and Sunrise Drive.

A reporting party told dispatchers of a two-vehicle head-on collision. One of the injured individuals was unconscious on the ground at the scene. Both vehicles were by the side of the road.

U.S. Border Patrol agents were deployed to the scene. A Reach ambulance was deployed as well. No other information was available.

Dead individual found

A body was discovered in a remote mountainous area.

According to the activity logs of the Imperial County Sheriff's Office, the report was made at 3:23 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, in an undisclosed location.

The person who reported the finding informed dispatchers that the corpse was located in the mountains. While the gender of the deceased individual was not known to the reporting party, the body appeared to belong to an elderly person.

Mechanic arrested for robbery, assault, child abuse

A man whose occupation was listed as a mechanic was arrested and booked into county jail for several crimes.

Imperial County Sheriff's Office activity logs show deputies arrested Jose Mario Oros Zavala, 26, for robbery, assault with a firearm on a person, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, child abuse with possible great bodily injuries, threatening to commit a crime with intent to terrorize, false imprisonment with violence and kidnapping.

The logs show the suspect was booked into county jail at 7:10 a.m. on February 16 with a $55,000 bail.

Young man booked for possession of child pornography

The Imperial County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 20-year-old man for possession of child pornography. According to the activity logs, Tenoch Alvarez was taken into custody in an undisclosed location and booked into the county jail at 1:09 p.m. on Friday, February 14. He is currently being held without bail.
