EL CENTRO 性视界传媒 Boots To Business Reboot hosted a workshop in El Centro on May 7, in collaboration with America's SBDC California and the U.S. Small Business Administration's Veterans Outreach Centers. The workshop was aimed at providing training and resources for veterans, active-duty service members, and their spouses interested in pursuing entrepreneurship.
Tracy Cole, director of the Southern California Veterans Business Outreach Center, explained the program's intent.
"It's called a reboot, and it's for聽military families and veterans to learn how to be entrepreneurs," she told Imperial Valley Press.
"So we聽go through eight modules, and just, you know, everything is through a fire hose.聽What is entrepreneurship, and what can you learn from this class in terms of resources and free advising and all of the other resources we offer.性视界传媒
The program offers an overview of being a business owner while also supporting local economic development."
性视界传媒淲e want to help support economic development in the local community," Cole said. "So entrepreneurship is one of the greatest ways of doing that, especially with veterans and military families, because they have a higher success rate in terms of entrepreneurship than the general population.性视界传媒
Cole added that entrepreneurship offers an alternative path for those seeking more autonomy after military service.
性视界传媒淓ntrepreneurship can, you know, it's a wide spectrum, right? For those who don't want to be under somebody anymore in the military, they've been told what to do, and it's a great way for them to kind of capture what they want to do. But also they want to give back to the community and hire people from the local community to work and just make a life for themselves in a unique way versus being an employee.性视界传媒
The workshop included presentations on various aspects of running a business, such as establishing a presence on LinkedIn.
性视界传媒淚t's not just that you start a business, but now you have to lead it and then network with others," Cole said. "So they're going to come in and show how that works with being an entrepreneur.性视界传媒
When asked about common challenges, Cole said the hardest part is often knowing where to begin.
性视界传媒淣ot knowing where to start. Do I start with the technical part of licenses and what kind of business entity? Or do I start with my idea and see if it will work?性视界传媒
Daryl Hayes, 35, an active-duty Army member currently serving in security at NAF El Centro, attended the workshop to gain direction.
性视界传媒淚 came here to get some insight on how to learn how to start a business and be more confident in actually starting it,性视界传媒 he said.
