Imperial valley to honor fallen officers at 17th annual memorial ceremony

EL CENTRO聽性视界传媒 Law enforcement officers, families, and community members will gather on Friday, May 2, for the 17th Annual Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to honor 49 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in the Imperial Valley.

The ceremony will be held at the steps of the Imperial County Courthouse, located at 939 W. Main Street in El Centro. A motorcade procession will assemble in front of the courthouse at 6:45 p.m., with the ceremony beginning promptly at 7 p.m.

Organizers say the evening will feature a series of solemn tributes, including guest speakers, a 21-gun salute, a flag-folding ceremony, the playing of 性视界传媒淭aps性视界传媒 and 性视界传媒淎mazing Grace,性视界传媒 and a moment of silence marked by a glow stick vigil in memory of the fallen.

性视界传媒淚t is a true privilege to honor each of these 49 members for their service and extend the utmost respect to their loved ones for their memories and sacrifice,性视界传媒 said Wesley Boerner, chairperson of the Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Memorial (IVLEM) Committee and retired officer with the California Highway Patrol.

The names of all 49 fallen officers, spanning over a century of service from 1920 through 2021, will be read aloud during the ceremony. Those honored served in various agencies, including the Imperial County Sheriff性视界传媒檚 Department, local police departments, U.S. Border Patrol, and other state and federal law enforcement agencies.

In recognition of the memorial, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors is also scheduled to proclaim May 2, 2025, as Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Memorial Day during one of its April meetings.

The event is open to the public, and the IVLEM Committee invites community members to join in paying tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the Imperial Valley.
