The 5/21/25 newspaper had an article about Governor Newsom wanting to charge California taxpayers over 1 million dollars for a high-speed train that will only help people in Los Angeles County and northern California. Imperial County will be paying taxes to pay for something we will probably not use. It is NewsomÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s pet project. He has the money. Imperial County doesnÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t! Fix Amtrak railways; donÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t build something new that most canÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t afford or wonÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t use. I, for one, donÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t want my taxes going to something that wonÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t help me. I totally support taxes going to firefighting. Those people need the money and while the desert doesnÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t tend to get many firesÐÔÊӽ紫ý¦ I have family in San Diego County, and our firefighters deserve support. A high-speed train does not.
